Taking a golf trip to Reynolds Lake Oconee in Georgia

Reynolds Lake Oconee, located in Greensboro, Georgia is home to the someday hole-in-one that you’ve been longing for. This resort is the ideal location for a lifestyle getaway for you, your family or a buddies trip with your friends.  With six courses on property, you are sure to feel connected with nature. The courses fall right on a lake backdrop providing you with the perfect scenery for the getaway you have been longing for.

Where Golf Meets The Great Outdoors

Reynolds, best known for its golf, provides travelers with a six-pack of courses to choose from. In 2017, Reynolds introduced The Sandy Creek Sporting Grounds to the resort property. The highlight of the Sporting Grounds is its 20-station clays course. This is set up similarly to a golf course.

There are plenty of off-course activities for golfers to engage in. The resort weaves in and around Lake Oconee where water-sport activities are endless. Reynolds is the perfect vacation spot for the entire family or the buddies trip you’ve been longing for.

A Southern Six-Pack of Golf

  • The Landings – The first course built on Lake Oconee by Bob Cupp. This course started it all for the area to become a ‘must golf’ destination.
  • Great Waters – The name says it all.  This Jack Nicklaus design featuring Lake Oconee is a bucket-list course for the avid golfer.
  • The National – 27 holes of elevated fun, a great hangout spot for buddies trips.  A Tom Fazio design that weaves through the forests.
  • The Preserve – Playability meets fun at The Preserve, which features a new Quick Six “course within the course”.
  • The Oconee – This course ranks right up there with Great Waters, a risk/reward layout by Rees Jones.
  • The Creek Club – A Jim Engh design for Platinum members only that takes advantage of the natural elements of the region.

 Get Fit

One of the unique amenities here is the Reynolds Kingdom of Golf presented by TaylorMade.  “The Kingdom” is a TaylorMade Club Fitting and Instruction center located right on the property.  It’s one of only two such facilities in the entire country, which provides club members and guests with a one-of-a-kind fitting and learning experience.

Wine and Dine

On-Property

With the laidback lifestyle, the best “chill” spot on the property is The National Tavern, located right next to the golf course. It’s the perfect spot to grab a quick cold one and a bite to eat before heading to the putting green a few steps away.

If you’re considering a buddy’s trip to Reynolds, you can’t go wrong staying in The National Golf Village. If good ole Southern cooking is what you’re looking for then Sunday brunch at Eighty 8 Kitchen + Cocktails is a MUST on your to-do list, located at The Preserve.

Local Flavors

If you’re looking to soak up a few local hot spots, then the Silver Moon on Monday night is your dive spot for live music and local food.  Get there early and soak up the great local atmosphere!

If it’s the local brews that you would rather soak up then it’s Oconee Brewing Company in Downtown Greensboro, about a 15-minute drive.   It’s a community favorite, which offers tours and hosts food truck events almost every weekend.

Great Waters To Become Even….Greater?

The Great Waters course at Reynolds Lake Oconee

All courses at Reynolds are great but The Great Waters course has long been considered the gem of Reynolds Lake Oconee.  With 9 out of the last 10 holes draped along the lake, it’s hard to believe this course (along with the views) can get any better but that’s exactly what they plan on doing.  Jack (Nicklaus) is back with plans for a total restoration project on his original design of Great Waters from 1992.  Restoration is set to begin for June 2018 and completed during the Fall of 2019.
