Turning Stone Resort, a Golf Magazine and Golfweek Award-Winning course and resort in upstate New York, breathes the very definition of world-class customer service. Only 30 miles east of Syracuse in Verona, this AAA Four Diamond rated resort is owned and operated by the Oneida Indian Nation. Turning Stone consistently receives accolades as one of the most excellent golf resorts with three full-length and two nine-hole courses – not to mention year-round golf training facilities and Pro Shop.
Atunyote
The Professional Golf Staff will attend to your every need and immerse you in the full PGA tour player experience. First class service greets you with a valet car, golf bag service and TOUR player assigned lockers featuring service attendants. With accommodations like these, Turning Stone’s Atunyote golf course will have you hooked even before you tee off.
Turning Stone’s personal touches don’t end there, as 7,315 yards of pristine greens and parkland spaces entice you to a time of elegance. Course designer, Tom Fazio, topped off Atunyote with classic water features and gentle hills leading to a New England-style clubhouse fitted with a wrap-around porch, restaurant and Pro Shop to conclude a memorable golfing experience.
Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge
Golfing’s greatest frequent Atunyote every year. In 2006, it hosted both the PGA Professional National Championship and the BC Open in the same year. This coming August, it will host the Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge to bring awareness to the negative impacts that Type 2 Diabetes has had on Native American tribal communities.
Kaluhyat
Not every golf course tells a story, but the Kaluhyat course highlights a piece of the Oneida’s creation story with each hole. Names like Meadow Spirit and Whispering Grasses each reveal how the journey of life began when a woman fell from the Other Side of the Sky. Just as the human journey has been difficult, so too will this course.
When designing this course, Robert Trent Jones, Jr. created dramatic changes in elevation with some reaching as high as 50 feet along the full 7,100 yards. But with this kind of shot-making difficulty comes picturesque views of the courses’ lakes and expansive plateaus. Drive long and true throughout this course to conquer its hurdles.
Shenendoah
Expect PGA-level amidst a natural setting at the Shenendoah course. Shenendoah was built and continues to be maintained according to Audubon International standards. Designer Rick Smith envisioned a course of wooded parkland holes with a low-country feel balanced by timeless link pastures. His vision came to fruition, all without sacrificing Turning Stone’s TOUR professional standards.
Recreational Play Amongst Professional Elegance
Turning Stone Resort offers two introductory golf course options. Its nine-hole courses, Pleasant Knolls and Sandstone Hollow, are both official US Kids Golf recognized facilities with Level One and Level Two tee plates. Wide fairways and gentle terrain make these courses ideal for beginner or those looking for a more recreational, relaxed pace of play. Don’t let their recognized status fool you, woods, wetlands and wild fescue grass add a challenge to keep the course exciting for even the best of players.
Turning Stone Tickets
For the 2014 season, Turning Stone is introducing a multi-play pass valid on Kaluhyat and Shenendoah courses so you can entertain family, friends and coworkers without having to choose between one or the other.
