Spanning a modest 6,400 yards, this par-70 course is shaped by rolling hills and is framed by Red Maple and White Oak tree-lined fairways. Scattered around the course are dangerous bunkers to be weary of and avoided. At the Grove Park Inn Golf Club, accuracy will be rewarded more than strength.
Thanks to the immaculate maintenance, this historic course is considered to be one of the finest conditioned courses in the entire state. Even if your golf game is a little below par, a round of golf here in the splendor of North Carolina will be worth every minute of your time.
This historic course originally opened in 1899 and was later redesigned by master golf course architect Donald Ross in 1926. The redesigned course now features elevated tee boxes at every hole providing amazing views with each drive.
Surrounded by the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains, this Western North Carolina beauty certainly celebrates the spirit of mountain golf. From beneath the crest of Sunset Mountain, players will ascend from the flat and level front nine to the gentle and rolling slopes of the back nine where spectacular views wait as a pleasant reward.
Eat, Relax and Enjoy Your Visit
In addition to playing a round of golf, there are plenty of other activities to keep you busy or help you relax. The Spa at Grove Park Inn is extravagant to say the least. Pamper yourself in their 43,000 sq. ft. subterranean spa which features cavernous rock walls surrounding the two waterfall pools and the warm mineral pool.
After going for a swim, there are three fireside lounges waiting to warm you up. These lounges are decorated with overstuffed chairs, warm blankets and offer light snacks, hot organic teas and herbal infused waters.
For dinner we recommend dining at The Blue Ridge, where the seating overlooks the Asheville skyline, the beautiful golf course, and magnificent Blue Ridge Mountains. In addition, the Sunset Terrace serves the finest hand cut steak, premier chops and fresh seafood which is always purchased directly from local farmers.
