The People Behind ShipSticks<\/em><\/strong> delves into the journeys of our employees, both on and off the course, and the experiences that inspire the work we do for you.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It all started with a set of pink golf clubs. And pink golf balls, pink tees, and, of course, a pink glove. How else do you get a ten-year-old girl hooked on golf? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For me, though, golf wasn\u2019t exactly optional. My dad, Steve Dresser, is a PGA professional who owned and operated the longest-running golf school in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, a.k.a. the Golf Capital of the World. So when your backyard is a driving range and your playground is the short-game area, it\u2019s kind of inevitable you\u2019ll end up swinging clubs instead of, say, practicing pirouettes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the moment I could wrap my hands around a club, life was golf. The smell of freshly cut fairways, the thwack of a well-struck drive, the hum of carts rolling by – such was the soundtrack of my childhood. Most of my free time was spent at Dad\u2019s school: eavesdropping on private lessons, pounding range balls until my hands blistered, hauling trash bags bigger than me (earning my keep, of course), and joining the staff for evening range sessions, where the guys drank cold beers and I nursed a grape Gatorade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By high school, all those hours on the range had paid off. I was competing regularly and, much to Dad\u2019s dismay, outdriving him. Golf had graduated from a summer hobby to full-on obsession – the kind that shapes weekends and<\/em> futures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It ultimately led me to Converse College, where I played golf competitively, met teammates-turned-lifelong friends, and discovered another passion: writing. English majors, like myself, spend a lot of time obsessing over compound sentences, Oxford commas, and proofreading roommates\u2019 papers. And somewhere between correcting a dangling modifier and trying to stop 3-putting, I realized writing and golf aren\u2019t so different after all. Both require rhythm, timing, attention to detail, and a willingness to try, fail, tinker, and try again.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My love of golf and my love of language eventually led me here: ShipSticks, where I work as a copywriter and content strategist. I started in customer service after graduating in 2019, learning the ins and outs of the business from the ground up – answering questions, solving problems, and seeing firsthand what golfers really need. That foundation shaped the way I approach my writing today: from the perspective of someone who loves golf (and traveling to play it) just as much as you do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I write content that helps golfers plan trips, get there smoothly, and savor every second on the course. But the most rewarding part is that my writing doesn\u2019t just sit online – it travels with people. A golfer headed to the Sandhills of Nebraska might use one of my guides<\/a> to plan their trip. A group bound for the Sandhills of North Carolina instead could stumble across my blog<\/a> and decide to grab a table at the restaurant I recommend after a bucket list round on No. 2 – because yes, I\u2019ve tried the food (and drank something stronger than grape Gatorade). The Myrtle Beach courses<\/a> I name the best bang for your buck? I\u2019ve played them, lost balls in the same spots you probably will, and can tell you exactly why they\u2019re worth it.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Every blog, guide, and recommendation I share is rooted in decades of living the game – from swing tips I picked up from Dad to courses I\u2019ve played firsthand – and written with the same care I\u2019d put into planning my own trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But my bucket list isn\u2019t collecting dust, either. I\u2019m out there chasing those next great golf trips just like you, and I hope the work I do here can be the spark that inspires yours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
