Located in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, TPC Sawgrass<\/a> is the very first Tournament Player\u2019s Club (TPC) and a fixture on nearly every golfer’s bucket list.\u00a0 World-renowned architect, Pete Dye, designed the 36 hole complex that hosts the annual Web.com Tour Championship.\u00a0 TPC Sawgrass<\/a> currently holds the annual PGA Tour Players Championship, considered by many as the 5th major.<\/p>\n

The resort has received many awards and recognition over the years. Golfweek recently ranked the Stadium Course as the 9th Best Resort Course in the United States while Golf Digest listed it as the 9th best Modern Golf Course in the United States and 1st in the state of Florida.<\/p>\n

TPC Sawgrass<\/a> consists of two championship courses, the Players Stadium Course, and Dye\u2019s Valley Course.\u00a0 In addition to the famous golf courses, Sawgrass<\/a> offers a state of the art TOUR Academy, club house and fabulous dining options with the NINETEEN and Traditions restaurants.\u00a0 NINETEEN received the \u201cAward of Excellence\u201d by Wine Spectator from 2008 \u2013 2012 for one of the most prominent restaurant wine lists in the world with over 230 varieties.<\/p>\n

Stadium Course<\/a><\/h2>\n

The concept of the Stadium Course centers around a facility intended to hold major championship golf that is accessible to the fans.\u00a0 Several sloped areas give fans the atmosphere of a stadium with unobstructed views as they watch players tee off, hit approach shots and putt on the greens.\u00a0 The par 72 Stadium Course plays 7,215 yards from the championship tees with a difficult 155\/76.8 slope and rating.\u00a0 The Stadium Course favors no particular style of play and offers one of the greatest challenges for even the best players in the world.\u00a0 The course requires length and accuracy to maneuver the difficult layout of several doglegs in both directions.\u00a0 Unlike other PGA Tour venues, the Stadium Course requires several precise shots to specific targets.\u00a0 The course is famous for it\u2019s two closing holes, the island green on 17 and difficult 462 yard closing hole with water running down the entire left side.<\/p>\n

17th Island Green<\/h2>\n

The signature par-three 17th hole on the Stadium course features the iconic island green.\u00a0 In fact, the 137 yard par-three is known as one of the most famous and recognizable holes in the world.\u00a0 The threat of missing the green paralyzes players with fear under the pressure coming down the stretch on the 71st hole at the Players Championship.\u00a0 The 17th hole has delivered some of the most memorable moments in golf history.\u00a0 Tiger Woods\u2019s birdie putt paved the way for one of the most improbable comeback victories during the 1994 U.S. Amateur.\u00a0 Only a few years later, Fred Couples made arguably the most famous hole in 3 at the 1999 Players Championship after dunking his first ball in the water.<\/p>\n

Dye\u2019s Valley Course<\/a><\/h2>\n

Dye\u2019s Valley Course opened for play in 1987 and currently rates as the 24th Best Course You Can Play in Florida by Golfweek.\u00a0 The par 72 and 6,864 yard layout offers perfectly manicured surfaces and water on every hole.\u00a0 However, the Valley Course plays slightly easier with wider fairways and larger greens.\u00a0 The Valley Course has held its share of championship caliber events including the NFL Golf Classic, the final stage of Senior Qualifying School, the Senior Players Championship and the Web.com Tour\u2019s Winn-Dixie Jacksonville Open.\u00a0 The Web.com currently holds it\u2019s Tour Championship on the Valley Course.<\/p>\n
